In this session, Dr. Ellis will provide insight and strategies for dealing with workplace mental health issues, including:
- How to recognize someone struggling with mental health challenges
- When to support employees facing mental health challenges
- How to intervene - HR's responsibility in supporting employees
- What is HR's role in mental health awareness - the do's and don'ts
- How to recognize when a mental health issue is escalating and what you can do to prepare (yourself and your workforce) for potential harmful situations.

Dr. Latasha Ellis, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of clinical experience serving diverse populations across a variety of settings, including schools, maximum-security prisons, private practice, and healthcare settings. For over two decades, she has specialized in integrated healthcare, supporting individuals navigating chronic illness, major life transitions, and complex emotional challenges.
She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Morgan State University, her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and her PhD from the Institute for Clinical Social Work. She also holds a Certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care from the University of Michigan and is a Mental Health First Aid trainer through the National Council of Mental Wellbeing.
