Program Description

Allyship is aligned with building a culture of equity. To be an ally is to unite oneself with others to promote a common interest.  Allies are not only helpers, but also have a common interest with those they desire to help. In an alliance, both parties stand to benefit from the bond or connection they share.  Beyond calling yourself an ally, what are you actively doing as an ally to create a culture of inclusion in your organization and larger community?

  • Learn what it looks like to build a powerful allyship community.
  • Better understand how to manage collective power within your organization’s culture.
  • The facilitators will share how they view allyship and what positive programs and community building activities have been successful in the many private sector companies, non-profit organizations, and local municipalities they have consulted with over the years.

Speaker Information
Jamall Kinard is the Executive Director of the Lakeview Neighborhood Alliance. After 10 years of service as an educator and coach in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, he began facilitating workshops with the nationally recognized diversity training program, Racial Equity Institute, in August of 2019.

As a devoted community organizer, he spends the bulk of his time as the Executive Director of the Lakeview Neighborhood Alliance (LNA), where he is leading the charge on revitalization efforts by focusing on family stability and civic awareness.

The benefits of working with businesses and foundations are vast as Jamall builds a blueprint for various communities, organizations, and institutions to invest into the communities they thrive in. The goal of Conscious Leadership’s work is to create environments where racial diversity is not only embraced but celebrated, strong local leaders are empowered, and systemic racism is dismantled.
